A browser extension to help users evalutate information online
Empowering people with the skills to navigate today's complex information landscape
At Media Owl, we believe that everyone deserves the tools to think critically about the information they encounter daily. In an age of information overload, our mission is to help people develop the skills to observe carefully, weigh evidence thoughtfully, and learn continuously. Therefore, we created a browser extension that helps users analyze information they find online. The extension breaks down the analysis in simple chunks and helps the user think critically and objectively about what they're reading.
Media literacy isn't just about spotting fake news—it's about understanding how information flows, how bias works, and how to make informed decisions in all aspects of life. Whether you're reading a news article, scrolling through social media, or researching a purchase, these skills are essential.
We focus on practical, actionable skills that you can apply immediately. Our three-step approach—Observe, Weigh, and Learn—provides a framework for critical thinking that works in any situation involving information evaluation.
Carefully examine sources, context, and presentation to gather complete information
Analyze credibility, check for bias, and compare multiple perspectives
Draw conclusions based on evidence and continue developing critical thinking skills
While this is something I'm doing for fun, I believe in the importance of teaching media literacy. If you have feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
